A brown bear carrying a salmon through a river in Katmai National Park

Katmai National Park, Brown Bear Tours

August 6-9, 2027. A 4-day guided photography tour with 4 nights of hotel accommodation. Spend four days immersed in the wild heart of Katmai National Park, Alaska, watching and photographing brown bears in their natural habitat.

A different part of the park every day

There are no hotels in the remote parts of Katmai we visit. So each morning we board a small floatplane with our own guide and fly out to a different location to spend the day with the bears. Every day brings a new landscape and new chances to watch bears fish, forage and look after their cubs.

In the evenings you return to comfort at the hotel, ready to fly out again the next morning.

Andy Samarasena will be with you throughout, to guide you in the field and help you with your photography, whatever your experience level. It's a fully immersive nature experience and photography tour.

Trip details: The tour starts and ends in Anchorage, Alaska. The price is $6,000 per person, which covers 4 nights' hotel stay, the daily floatplane trips, your bear guide and photography guidance. A meal package is available at extra cost.

Groups are small, with a maximum of 11 guests. Expect to walk 5 to 6 miles a day in the field, so you'll need a moderate level of fitness. Travel to and from Anchorage is not included, and we recommend travel insurance.
